E., City Enginee� <br /> SUBJECT: Grant of an Easement to Decatur Park District <br /> The Decatur Park District is planning to construct a segment of a bike trail in the west end of <br /> the City. This trail will provide a connection from Kiwanis Park to Summit Avenue (refer to <br /> attached locale map). The plan is to construct a portion of the trail along the top of the City's <br /> Riverview Flood Protection Levee. The Park District has requested the City to grant a permanent <br /> easement for the construction of the trail on this embai�nent. A copy of the easement is <br /> attached. <br /> City staff has reviewed the easement to confirm that the City's interests are addressed. The <br /> primary areas of interest include protecting the structural integrity of the levee, maintenance <br /> responsibility for the trail and the City's liability. The easement is acceptable to City staff. <br /> It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution granting an <br /> easement to the Decatur Park District for a bike trail on the City's Riverview Flood Protection <br /> Levee and that the Mayor be authorized to execute and the City Clerk to attest the easement. <br /> City staff will be in attendance at the City Council meeting to answer questions that the <br /> Council members may have. <br /> attach: 3 <br /> cc: John W.
