Buc ey,Commander- Emergency Communication Divisio�"` <br /> DATE: June 9, 2000 ' <br /> PURPOSE: The purpose of this memorandum is to secure Council approval for the renewal of I�� <br /> a maintenance agreement with Segno Communications for the repair and maintenance of the i <br /> Mobile Data Computer Radios and antennas, modems, and the base equipment for the period of <br /> July 1, 2000 through June 30, 2001. <br /> BACKGROUND: The base radio equipment as well as the mobile radio and modem equipment <br /> utilized for the Mobile Data Computers for the City of Decatur is past its warranty period. As <br /> such, this equipment must be maintained on a routine basis. The proposed service agreement <br /> presented is at the same total cost as the service agreement for the previous year, with no cost <br /> increase. The cost is $355.85 per month for the base equipment and 43 installed units. Only City <br /> of Decatur units are included in this agreement. <br /> This contract provides for Segno to provide 24 hour service plus all parts and labor to maintain <br /> the data base station, Base Data Link Controller(BDLC) and modems. The MRMs are serviced <br /> Monday through Friday, regular hours. Segno will provide all parts and labor to maintain the <br /> data radio equipment, RF modem and cabling portions of each mobile computer currently <br /> installed for the police and fire departments with 6 month intervals for routine frequency checks. <br /> Recommendation: It is recommended that the City Council approve and authorize the renewal <br /> of this maintenance agreement. <br />
