Anderson Plaza <br /> Decatur, Illinois 62523-1196 <br /> Dear Mayor Howley: <br /> The STATE OF ILLINOIS, acting through its Department of Transportation, is <br /> cuRently in the study phase of a proposed improvement of Business US <br /> Route 51, starting from Lincoln Park Road to US Route 51 Bypass. A portion <br /> of this improvement is within the corporate limits of the City of Decatur. <br /> The studied improvement will consist of resurfacing the existing pavement; <br /> providing geometric improvements at Medial Drive and Imboden Drive; <br /> modernizing traffic signals; replacing curb and gutter; replacing concrete <br /> median; and other work for an overall improvement to the roadway. <br /> Confirmation of division of responsibilities is as follow: <br /> Responsibilities of the STATE <br /> 1 The STATE shall make the surveys, obtain all necessary right-of-way, <br /> prepare plans and specification, receive bids, award the contract and <br /> furnish construction engineering. <br />
