Mass Transit opera6ng assistance for FY-2000: The City of Decatur Public Transit System operates a <br /> city wide mass transit program using 26 buses on fixed routes, plus 5 handicapped accessibie vans and <br /> contracts with the two Iocal taxi companies to provide paratransit service for the disabled. Federal <br /> operating assistance would offset approximately 35%of the eligible operating expenses of the system for <br /> the year. <br /> 2. Mass Transit capital assistance for FY-2000: The City of Decatur has begun the process of <br /> constructing a mutti-modal transportation center in downtown Decatur. The City has recieved grants for <br /> the purchase of the property, the demolition of the dilapidated structure on the property, and the partial <br /> construction of the new facility.
