oF'DEc
 9
- C
V 70
\i1i►
'/[LINOS
Apri125, 2000
PUBLIC WORKS MEMORANDUM
NO. 2000 - 29
MEMORANDUM TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council
FROM: Steve Garm ty Manager
Bruce McNa , .E., Director of Public Works
Matthew C. Ne ell, P.E., Traffic Engineert
SUBJECT: Surveying Services for Traffic Signal Improvements
City Project 2000-09
An item on the agenda for the May 1, 2000, City Council meeting is the authorization of a
Project Work Order Release with Homer L. Chastain & Associates (HLC) for $10,050.00 to
provide surveying services. The surveying information provided through this work order will be
used by City staff in the engineering design of the Traffic Signal Improvement Project, City
Project 2000-09, approved for Fiscal Year 2000-2001.
The City is currently under contract with HLC for Outside Professional Land Surveyor
Services, which was authorized by Council in October 1998. Funding for this work has been
budgeted in the General Capital Fund as part of the project.
The City has utilized HLC for various surveying projects since the surveying services
contract went into effect. These projects have included past traffic signal improvement projects
and, most recently, the survey work for the Ash Avenue / Route 51 Intersection Improvement.
All of this surveying work has been performed very professionally and concluded with an
excellent work product. HLC provides the City with computerized drafting files that allow
design work to begin with minimal delay.
Staff recommends that the City authorize a Project Work Order Release with Homer L.
Chastain & Associates to provide surveying services for City Project 2000-09, Traffic Signal
Improvements.
City staff will be available to answer questions that the Council may have at the meeting.
attach. 2
