E., Traffic Engineer <br /> SUBJECT: 21st Street Reconstruction and Overlay Improvement <br /> Condit Street to Garfield Avenue '� <br /> City Project 9851B ! <br /> � <br /> An item on the agenda for the April 3, 2000, City Council meeting is the acceptance of <br /> bids and award of a contract for the 21 st Street Reconstruction and Overlay Improvement - <br /> Condit Street to Garfield Avenue. <br /> This project will consist of reconstructing portions of 21st Street between Condit Street <br /> and Garfield Avenue and placing a 2-inch to 4-inch overlay on the entire section. This <br /> improvement is related to the Locust Street / 21 st Street Intersection Improvement which was <br /> approved by the Council in September, 1999, and is currently under construction. The purpose <br /> of this project is to provide an improved pavement to accommodate the large truck traffic on this <br /> street. The State of Illinois is contributing $23,600 in truck access funds toward this project <br /> through its Truck Access Route Program (TARP). <br /> The project plans and specifications were prepared by the City's Traffic Engineer. The <br /> project was advertised March 8, 2000, and bids were opened on March 28, 2000.
