The STATE shall provide written approval of the plans and specifications <br /> prior to the CITY advertising the project for letting. <br /> 2. The STATE will seek funding to reimburse the CITY for the costs of a <br /> portion of the improvement as noted below: <br /> • All work on US Route 51, except for Northbound right turn lane <br />' improvements into Ash Avenue; <br /> • All work on Ash Avenue west of US Route 51; <br /> • All work on the eastbound Ash Avenue through lanes, from the <br /> centerline of US route 51 to a point 509 feet East. <br /> Cost shall be determined by the final quantities times the contract unit <br /> prices. The maximum reimbursement shall be $652,000. Reimbursement <br /> will be contingent upon construction funding being available for this <br /> project. <br /> 3. Upon completion and final acceptance of the project, the STATE shall <br /> maintain, on US Route 51, the median, the four (4) through traffic lanes <br /> lying on either side of the median, and the left-turn and right-turn lanes, <br /> each lane being 12 feet and variable in width, and the curb and gutter <br /> adjacent to those traffic lanes and turn lanes. <br /> 4. Upon acceptance by the STATE of the traffic signal work included herein <br /> the responsibility for maintenance and energy shall continue to be as <br /> outlined in the Master Agreement executed by the STATE and the CITY on <br /> July 9, 1980. <br /> Reimbursement will be scheduled when funding becomes available. This <br /> LETTER OF INTENT will be the basis for a formal CITY-STATE agreement to <br /> be prepared by the STATE. <br /> Obligations of the STATE and CITY will cease immediately without penalty or <br /> further payment being required if, in any fiscal year, the Illinois General <br /> Assembly or Federal funding source fails to appropriate or otherwise make <br /> available funds for this contract. <br />
