RESOLUTION NO. R99-213 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING GRANT APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL TRANSIT ADMINISTRATION MASS TRANSIT OPERATING ASSISTANCE FUNDS FOR FY2000 WHEREAS, the provision of mass transit service is essential to the transportation of persons in the urbanized area; and, WHEREAS, the City of Decatur does own and operate a mass transit system for the provision of said service; and, WHEREAS, the Federal Transit Administration is authorized to make grants to offset certain operating expenses of a system providing mass transit services; and, WHEREAS, said grants will impose certain obligations upon the applicant, including the provision by it of the local share of the operating funds. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DECATUR, ILLINOIS: Section 1. That an application be made to the Federal Transit Administration for an operating assistance grant for the purpose of offsetting certain of the operating and capital expenses of the Decatur Public Transit System. Section 2. T'hat while participating in said operating assistance program, the City of Decatur will provide all required local matching funds. Section 3. That the City Manager of the City of Decatur is hereby authorized and directed to execute and file on behalf of the City such application. Section 4. That the City Manager of the City of Decatur is authorized to furnish such additional information as may be required by the Federal Transit Administration in connection with the aforesaid application for said grant.
