ATTACHMENT III <br /> CDBG PUBLIC SERVICES FY 00/O1 FUNDING RECOMMENDATION. <br /> AND PROGRAM SUMMARY <br /> AGENCY: BIG BROTHERSBIG SISTERS <br /> PROJECT: ��School Buddies: School-based Mentoring Program" <br /> PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: School Buddies is a school-based mentoring program serving <br /> elementary school children in Decatur School District#61, Parochial, and Macon County <br /> Schools. Adult volunteers (mentors) share time with children on site in schools. Mentors <br /> reinforce classroom learning, build a child's self esteem and serve as role models. Big <br /> BrothersBig Sisters is the provider of school-based mentoring for the Macon County Mentoring <br /> and Tutoring Agencies Network. <br /> FUNDING REQUESTED: $25,000 <br /> FUNDING RECOMMENDATION: 20 000 <br /> REVISED FUNDING RECOMMENDATION: 20 000 <br /> RATIONALE: Based on HUD statutory and regulatory requirements this program meets <br /> the national objective for benefit to low/moderate income persons and is <br /> therefore eligible for funding. Local requirements have been meet and the <br /> program received CDBG funding during the current fiscal year only. <br /> Page-1- <br />
