E., City Engineer� <br /> SUBJECT: City Project 9906 <br /> Base Failure Program <br /> The City's base failure program involves making repairs to existing streets in advance of the <br /> City's annual overlay program. The repairs are made at selected locations where the pavement <br /> has become severely cracked, settled, raveled or deteriorated. <br /> The Engineering Division prepared the documents for this project. The project was <br /> advertised for competitive bids and the single bid received was opened on Tuesday, June 29, <br /> 1999. The results (copy of the bid tabulation is attached) of the letting are as follows: <br /> Compared to <br /> Engineer's Est. <br /> Bidder Bid Price Over(-Under) <br /> Engineer's Estimate $ 79,866.75 ---- <br /> Dunn Company $ 80,115.50 0.31 <br /> The receipt of one bid is always a concern to staff as it relates to the City obtaining <br /> competitive bids for its work. The project was advertised in accordance with the established <br /> policy. In addition, bid notices were directly mailed to eleven companies that are on file in the <br /> City Engineer's Office as performing this type of work. The receipt of one bid for this annual <br />
