RESOLUTION NO. R99-64 <br /> : RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE <br /> DECA'I'UR HOUSING AUTHORITY <br /> -HOPE VI GRANT APPLICATION - <br /> WHEREAS, the Decatur Housing Authority has submitted a $35 million grant proposal <br /> for a Hope VI program for use towards the quality redevelopment of the Near North <br /> Redevelopment Area; and, <br /> WHEREAS, Hope VI is one of the most comprehensive and flexible grant programs <br /> undertaken by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and <br /> while a local housing authority is the required funding conduit, HUD's goals in the Hope VI <br /> program are much broader and more community-based; and, <br /> WHEREAS, Hope VI will provide funding to rebuild aging public housing facilities and <br /> offer ancillary resources to further Welfare to Work initiatives; and, ', <br /> WHEREAS, Hope VI funding awards are critically linked to the holistic long term <br /> redevelopment of inner-city neighborhoods and the level of collaboration and cooperation which <br /> communities demonstrate toward this goal; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the Decatur Housing Authority engaged the services of Quadel Consulting <br /> Corporation to assist in the development of the Hope VI grant proposal. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> DECATUR, ILLINOIS: <br /> Section 1.
