Rpr 14 99 04: 46p Hruce Harris 630 761 -0952 p. 8
,
Cadastra! Aerial Tax Ma s
Using new aerial photography obtained in the spring of 1998 as a base, new seamless
digital property maps wiii be prepared to accurately show each of the approximate 53,000
parcels of real property througiiout Macon County.
Map Scales and Format-20"x30"
Rural Areas: Sparsely papulated areas containing acreage, metes and bounds parcels, and
large lots will be provided at a scale of 1"=400'. Each map will cover two land sections
under the Federal Rectangular Survey System. Overall sheet size will be approximately
20" east to west covering approximately one nnile,by approximately 30" north to south
covering approximately two miles.
Urbanized Areas: Densely to moderately populated areas containing parcels of
conventional residential iot size will be provided at a scale of 1"=1 QO'. Each map will
cover vne eighth of a section of land under the Federal Rectangular Survey System.
Overall she.et size will be approcimately 20"east to west covering approximately I/4 mile,
by approximately 30"north to south covering approximately 1/2 mile.
All cadastral data will be created as a seamless digital map graphic database using USGS
control. The primary source for all cadastral data will be the existing Macon County tax
maps located in the Supecvisor of Assessments ofice. BHA will produce a set of work
map prints for use in the creation of the cadastral database. Using the new aerial photos in
conjunction with the work maps as reference tools, each parcel will be constructed in the
cadastral database. The actual production of the cadastral database includes various work
phases.
Using computer graphics work stations and ESRI's Arc/Info software, section tines,
roads, hydrography, and all recorded subdivision line work is entered into the computer
using coordinate geometry, digitizing, or scanning, thc line work off the existing Macon
County tax maps. After the initial line work has been ccmputerized, lot number and
dimensions are added to the database, along with the apprapriate text. All data will be
delivered in coverage's which wiil be in correct topologic format. All attribute(non-
graphic) data associated with these coverage's will be stored as datafiles in Info, a
relational database management software which is fully integrated with the graphics.
Once the linework has been sufficiently captured, some post-processing may need to be
done to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the data. Physical features found in the
aerial photography such as apparent Gnes of owaers4up, hydrography, and back of
sidewalks may be utilized as an additional check of the parcel data for its positional
correctness. Any physical features contained in the tax maps will be compared to its
carresponding feature in the aerial photography. If there are differences, the tax map wilf
be adjusted.
