l
PURCHASING & INTERNAL SERVICES MEMORANDUM
#99 - 17
March 24, 1999
TO: The Honorable Mayor and City Council Members
FROM: James Williams, Jr., City Manager
Beth Couter, Financial Management Director
Deborah M. Perry, Purchasing Supervisor'
SUBJECT: BID FOR FULL SIZE UTILITY VEHICLE
Attached you will find a bid summary for a full size utility vehicle to be used by the Police
Department as a K-9 unit. It will replace a police pursuit vehicle that was totaled in December,
, 1998.
The Police Department believes the full size utility vehicle will serve their needs better than a car
since it is more heavy duty with special shocks to transport the K-9 dogs and equipment.
Chevrolet is currently the only manufacturer making a full size utility vehicle with the police
interceptor package.
It is staff recommendation to accept the bid of Miles Chevrolet to furnish one (1) 1999 Chevrolet
Tahoe full size utility vehicle for$27,820.16.
