Item Coversheet Page 1 of 1 <br /> �m <br /> City Clerk <br /> DATE: 3/30/2016 <br /> MEMO: City Council Memo#2016-07 <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor Julie Moore Wolfe and Council Members <br /> FROM: Tim Gleason,City Manager <br /> Jerry Bauer,Assistant City Manager <br /> SUBJECT: Amendment to City Code Chapter 7 <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that City Council approve the attached ordinance regarding <br /> modifications to Chapter 7 of City Code,to provide for the consolidation of two position classifications within the Public Works <br /> Department. <br /> BACKGROUND: The position of Traffic and Parking Supervisor in the Public Works Department was recently vacated. More <br /> recently,the duties of parking enforcement supervision that were a part of this job were transferred to the Decatur Police <br /> Department. In an effort to consolidate the remaining duties of the position and provide for greater efficiency in the Public Works <br /> Department,it is now recommended that the position of City Forestry and Property Supervisor be created,and that the positions of <br /> both the Traffic and Parking Supervisor and City Forester be eliminated. Duties of the new position would encompass those of the <br /> two eliminated positions,and the incumbent City Forester would be appointed to the new classification. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: There are no known objectors to this reorganization. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Rick Marley,City of Decatur Director of Public Works and Richard Borders,City of <br /> Decatur Municipal Services Manager. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Questions regarding the ordinance should be directed to me,at 424-2801 or tgleason@decaturil.gov. <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: This change would result in the reduction of one management position in the Public Works <br /> Department.
