Community Develo ent Directo <br /> Sheri Adams, Solid Waste Coordinator �, <br /> Re: Paint Collection and Recycling/Disposal Event <br /> On August 17, 1998, as part of a commitment to provide services to Decatur residents and to !, <br /> solidify the commitment of the City to protect our environment and natural resources, staff <br /> requested and was granted approval by the Decatur City Council to issue a Request for Proposals <br /> (RFP)for paint collection and recycling/disposal services for a one day event. An RFP was issued <br /> on August 27, 1998. <br /> Friedman's Paint and Wallpaper submitted the most cost effective proposal for the provision of <br /> managing and implementing a one day paint collection and recycling/disposal event. Staff <br /> recommends approval of the proposed resolution and agreement with Friedman's Paint and <br /> Wallpaper in Springfield, Illinois to provide paint collection and recycling/disposal services. <br /> The City has funds available to implement the proposed collection through a recycling grant from <br /> the Macon County Solid Waste Department. Illinois Power Company has offered to assist with <br /> the collection and to provide the use of their facility at 2460 N. 7asper for the collection. The <br /> tentative collection date, pending Council approval, is October 31, 1998. <br /> Staff will be available to answer questions. <br />
