  i
I• f c
a
c
v e
%[LINO`f
May 8, 1998
PUBLIC WORKS MEMORANDUM ,
NO. 98 - 28 '
MEMORANDUM TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council
FROM: James L. Williams, Jr., City Manager '
Bruce A. McNabb, Director of Public Works
Keith D. Alexander, Lake Manager I
SUBJECT: Macon County Soil and Water Conservation District (MCSWCD)
Watershed Improvement Contract I
The attached resolution is for the approval of a contract with the MCSWCD to continue the
City's progressive Lake Decatur watershed soil conservation and water quality improvement
program at a cost of$127,000 (the same amount as last year's contract). This would be the 14th
consecutive annual contract with the MCSWCD. The only significant change from last year's
contract is an increase in staff costs of$5,000 and a $5,000 decrease in conservation cost share
funds due to increased MCSWCD personnel and equipment expenses. It maintains the flexibility
necessary to direct programs recommended by City staff and the Upper Sangamon River (Lake
Decatur)Watershed Planning Committee.
City staff recommends that this contract be approved to continue the City's successful
watershed protection program. City staff and Macon County Soil and Water Conservation
District staff will be available to answer any questions you may have on this matter.
attach: 2
cc w/attach: Marilyn Parker,
Macon County Soil and Water Conservation District
