Caston: 21 May 1999 'I
Contact:
In response to your request at our May 7, 1999 meeting, ARCADIS Geraghty& Tim Granzeier ,
Miller Inc. (ARCADIS Gerahty&Miller)and Montomery Watson have jointly ',
' prepared this proposal for field activities associated with the oundwater
investiarion of the Zexe( Sertling Lagoon Area, the Decatur Industry&Technology
Center, and Zesel Carveout Area. As discussed, this approach to the field work will eXteso: ,
provide consistent procedures, facilitate sharing of data, and be performed at a cost - (312)263-6703
less than or equal to the cost of conducting tlie investiQations separately. With
personnel from both ARCADIS Geraghty&Miller and1ontomery Watson
conducting the field activiries, subsequent documentation of the activities and
certification will also be streamlined. The scope of work follows.
Groundwater Investigation Scope Of Work
Twenty-three(23)groundwater wells are included within the two areas of
considerarion: nine wells in the ZeYel Settling Lagoon rlrea and 14 wells in the
Decatur Industry&Technology Center. The groundwater investigation will inc(ude
samplinof the 23 existing wells and hydraulic conductivity testing of seven wells.
Prior to conducting field activities,a brief sampling plan will be prepazed and
submitted to the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency(IEPA)for review and
notificarion of sampling.
The oundwater sampling task will consist of the following steps:
1. A single round of water level elevation measurements will be collected from
the 23 e:cisting monitoring wells. The water level of the unnamed tributary
will also be measured from a fixed reference point.
