[ <br /> Subject: Request for Proposals for Management of Decatur Public Transit System <br /> Upon City Council approval, the attached resolution will authorize the issuance of a <br /> Request for Proposals for management of the Decatur Public Transit System. The <br /> management company will be the employer of all transit employees and it will provide <br /> management and supervisory services necessary for the daily operation of the transit system. <br /> The management firm will furnish a resident manager and it will make available central <br /> staff support for labor negotiations, employee grievances and other areas as needed. <br /> The current contract will end on June 30, 1998 and the new agreement will be for a <br /> 3-year period; however, either party can cancel at the end of any year provided that proper <br /> notification is given. The City currently pays $79,512 annually for management services. <br /> The RFP will be sent to 15 management firms. The deadline for receipt of proposals <br /> is scheduled for May and the award of contract should be ready for City Council approval <br /> on June 29, 1998. <br />
