Swanson, P.E., City Engineer�(JU / <br /> SUBJECT: City Project 9720 <br /> Watermain Replacement Program <br /> The City's annual watermain replacement program is intended to replace watermains that <br /> have experienced a high incidence of breaks and valves that have become marginally operable. <br /> The selection of watermain and valves to be replaced is based on repair records provided by the <br /> City's Water Distribution Maintenance Section. This yeaz's program includes the replacement of <br /> the 6-inch watermain in Harrison Avenue from Oakland Avenue to Walnut Grove Avenue and the <br /> 6-inch watermain in Walnut Grove Avenue from Harrison Avenue to Grant Street. In addition. <br /> five 16-inch water valves at various locations in the City are to be replaced in this year's program. <br /> The project was designed by the City's Engineering Division and bids were received and <br /> opened on February 19, 1998, for this project. The results of the letting (a copy of the bid <br /> tabulation is attached) are as follows: <br /> Compared to <br /> Engineer's Est. <br /> Bidder Bid Price Over(-Under� <br /> Engineer's Estimate $ 112,333.08 --- <br /> Burdick Plumbing& Heating $ 80,667.00 (28.19) <br /> Bodine Services, Inc. $ 97,688.00 (13.04) <br />
