The STATE shall likewise notify the LOCAL AUTHORITY in writing of any revisions to be made by the STATE to the distance shown on a specific sign resulting from changes made by the STATE to the pavement marking at the intersection, intersection geometrics, railroad alignment, or any other occurrence which decreases or increases said distance. 5. The action of the STATE to initially erect the CAUTION XX FEET BETWEEN TRACKS AND HIGHWAY signs listed in Exhibit 2 does not relieve the LOCAL AUTHORITY of any statutory responsibility it has regarding the placing and maintaining of traffic control devices, including CAUTION XX FEET BETWEEN TRACKS AND HIGHWAY signs, upon its highway system. This Agreement shall remain in effect for (1) a period of twenty years from the date of its execution or (2) so long as the signs covered by the terms of this Agreement, or any Amendment hereto, remain in place, whichever of (1) or (2) is the shorter period of time, such effective term shall apply unless otherwise agreed to in writing by the parties hereto. The STATE's obligations hereunder shall be subject to termination and cancellation in any year for which the General Assembly of the State of Illinois fails to make an appropriation or reappropriation to pay such obligations, and the STATE's obligations hereunder shall also be subject to termination and cancellation at any time where there are not sufficient authorized funds lawfully available to the STATE to meet any such obligations.
