RESOLUTION NO. R97-168 <br /> RESOLUTION RELATING TO PROPERTY TAX <br /> EXEMPTION FOR MACON COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY <br /> WHEREAS, the Macon County Historical Society has notified the City of Decatur that it <br /> has applied or intends to apply for an exemption from real property taxes for the following <br /> property: Parcel ID No. 09-13-16-105-025, pursuant to Section 15-65(� of the Property Tax <br /> Code [35 ILCS 200/15-65(�]; and, � <br /> WHEREAS, subsection (� of Section 15-65 of the Property Tax Code requires as a <br /> prerequisite for exemption from real property taxes that all taxing districts within which the <br /> property of a historical society is situated adopt a resolution finding that the Society is a <br /> charitable organization using the property exclusively for charitable purposes; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the properly of Macon County Historical Society is situated within the <br /> boundaries of the City of Decatur; and, <br /> WHEREAS, while acknowledging that the Department of Revenue is responsible for the <br /> final determination of whether an organization is charitable and the property is being used <br /> exclusively for charitable purposes, the City of Decatur has determined that the Macon County <br /> Historical Society is a charitable organization using the above described property exclusively for <br /> charitable purposes. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br /> OF DECATUR, ILLINOIS: <br /> Section 1.
