That based on the evidence, the Commission finds that Bond was terminated from his <br /> employment from Bridgestone/Firestone, Inc. because of his race in violation of Chapter 28 of <br /> the City Code of the City of Decatur which states that it is a violation for any employer to <br /> dischar�e an employee on the basis of unlawful discimination. Specifically the Commission <br /> finds�s follows: <br /> a. That Bond is an African-American male. <br /> 'v tion were <br />'�� b. That the evaluations Bond recei ed resultin in his termina <br /> g <br /> performed by persons unfamiliar with Bond's work performance and without <br /> sufficient time to evaluate Bond. <br /> c. That Bond had been empioyed with Brid�estone/Firestone,Inc. for approxi- <br /> mately 23 years e:ccept for periods of lay offs due to economic conditions. <br /> d. That Bond was promoted to a supervisory position. <br /> e. That in February of 1995, Bond w-as directed to train a new supervisory em- <br /> ployee and did so successfully. <br /> f. That Bond was terminated because of his involvement with a female <br /> Caucasian subordinate employee while another Caucasian supervisor involved <br /> with a female Caucasian subordinate employee was not disciplined. <br /> �. That the decision of the Commission was by an affirmative vote of 7 to 4. <br /> IT IS TI�REFORE ORDERED that Bond be awarded the following as damages: <br /> 1. That Bond be reinstated to his employment with Bridgestone/Firestone,Inc. at <br /> the same or comparable position with seniority ri�ts awarded as if Bond had not had his service <br /> interrupted. <br />
