. . . .,
 4
' It is staffs objective to minimize expenditures to make permanent improvements to the Silt ,
, Retention Basin area until decisions are made re ardin its future use. The Council is enerall I
g g Y
aware that the basin has potential as an off-stream storage area to aid the City in meeting water I
storage needs and mitigating water quality issues. The proposed work is considered to be of a
property maintenance nature and is being done to minimize the City's exposure to potential
liabilities. The liabilities may relate to the flooding of private cropland or damages to the
township's roads and ditches from the release of water from the basin. City staff will have to
continually monitor the condition of the basin area to note any additional maintenance repairs that
need to be made before other problems develop and expose the Crty to more costly repa.ir or
restoration work.
It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution awarding
the contract for the Decatur Silt Retention Basin Repairs, City Project 9647, to Bodine Sewer,
Inc. as the lowest responsive, responsible bidder in an amount not to exceed $22,500.00 and that
the Mayor be authorized to execute the contract.
, City staff will be available to answer questions that the Council may have at the meeting.
attach: 2
cc: Keith D.
