Perry, Purchasing Supervisor�-Q <br /> SUBJECT: TRAFFIC SIGN GRAPHIC COMPUTER SYSTEM <br /> Attached you will find a bid summary for a traffic sign graphic computer system softwaze and <br /> cutter/plotter to be used by the Tr�c Control Division of the Public Works Department. <br /> The low bid of URW for the Corel system does not meet City of Decatur specifications in several <br /> azeas as follows: <br /> - A 42" plotter/cutter was proposed rather than a 48". The City routinely makes 48" <br /> signs. <br /> - The Corel system does not have softwaze for pavement mazking letters and symbols. <br /> - The Corel system does not have an auto save feature on the software to protect the <br /> user from losing design work. <br /> - The vendor has been reluctant to demonstrate this system. <br /> The second low bid of URW for the Signus Traffic System does not meet City of Decatur <br /> specifications in several azeas as follows: <br /> - The soflwaze package is not a windows application, but rather a DOS application. <br /> - The Signus system does not have softwaze for pavement marking letters or symbols. <br /> It also does not include a library of color MUTCD (Manual on Uniform Traffic <br /> Control Devices).
