 .
i:o.DEC
 C
V oe
y
LINO`'r
July 1, 1997
PUBLIC WORKS MEMORANDUM
 NO. 97-68
MEMORANDUM TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council
m L illi m r i Mana er
FROM: Ja es . W a s,J.., C ty g. v
Bruce A. McNabb, Drector of Publc Works
Stephen P. Swanson, City Engneer
SUBJECT: Motor Fuel Tag Resolution
The Motor Fuel T Resolution approved by the City Council on May 19, 1997 was
prepared based on the preliminary list of streets to be included in the City's contracted street
pavement maintenance programs funded by Motor Fuel Tax (1VT) funds. This contracted
maintenance work includes the conventional overlay program and the milling and rehabilitation
program. The preliminary list was used to prepare the program cost estimates and to provide
supporting documentation of the City's planned expenditures to the Illinois Department of
Transportation(IDOT). IDOT approval is required before the City may spend its MFT funds.
The list of streets was revised in staffs final review of the two programs. The revisions
resulted in an increase to several of the quantities and the cost estimate that was submitted to
IDOT with the earlier MFT Resolution. Staff discussed this with IDOT and was advised to
submit a supplemental MFT Resolution to rectify this matter. This action will set aside the
additional funds to complete the work.
The MFT resolution approved earlier by Council set aside a total of $2,293,028.00. This
amount included $240,000 for trafficsignal related work. The supplemental resolution is for an
additional $230,000 and increases the total MFT amount set aside for this fiscal year to
$2,523,028.00. This is an administrative action to meet State requirements and will not affect the
City's budget for contracted street maintenance.
City staff will be in attendance at the City Council meeting to answer questions that Council
members may have.
attach: 2
