Bean, A ting Director of the Department of Community Development �� <br /> Robert S. Reed, Mass Transit Administrator��� <br /> Subject: FTA Operating Assistance Grant Application for FY'98 <br /> Upon City Council approval, the attached resolution will authorize the filing of the City's <br /> annual federal operating assistance grant application. The funds being requested from the U. S. <br /> Department of Transportation, Federal Transit Administration will help support the operation of <br /> the Decatur Public Transit System in FY'98, or the period of July 1, 1997 thru June 30, 1998. <br /> Total eligible operating expenses are estimated at $2,235,000 and the amount of federal <br /> funds being requested is $445,000. The State will provide some $1,095,150 in operating <br /> assistance and the remaining $694,850 will come from passenger revenues and local <br /> contributions. The approval of the grant application is not expected until late 1997 or early 1998 <br /> after Congress has passed a transportation appropriations bill and President Clinton has signed it. <br /> RSR/pd <br />
