Alexander, Lake Manager <br /> SUBJECT: Illinois State Water Survey Nitrate Monitoring Contract <br /> The attached resolution is for the approval of the attached contract with the Illinois State <br /> � Water Survey (ISWS) to continue nitrate monitoring from May 1, 1997, through Apri130, 1998, <br /> in the Lake Decatur Watershed for the fifth consecutive year. It also provides for the reporting <br /> and comparison of these findings with the first four years of monitoring, with a report to be <br /> delivered no later than July 31, 1998. <br /> The monitoring will be beneficial to the City by indicating, to a limited extent, the impact that <br /> watershed management techniques have on watershed nitrate levels, including the USEPA <br /> nonpoint source pollution control grant that will be presented to Council for approval in the next <br /> few weeks. <br /> Total contract cost is $35,018. This contract proposal is identical in scope and cost to the <br /> current contract. Funding is available in the approved FY 1997-98 Water Fund Budget. City <br /> staff recommends that this contract be approved to continue monitoring the City's nitrate <br /> reduction efforts. <br /> attach.: 2 <br />
