Bean,Acting Director of Communi Development
SUBJECT: Lowber/Condit Drainage Improvements I,
City Project 9634
In response to a citizen complaint regarding the poor drainage at the intersection of Lowber ,
and Condit Streets, the Engineering Division investigated and recommended improvements to
correct the problem. The problem is located on Lowber Street immediately north of Condit
Street. Water ponding in the gutter becomes a nuisance to the neighborhood, and is also causing
deterioration to the adjoining pavement. In the winter it creates an icing problem near the
intersection. A Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application for this project was
submitted by the City and approved for funding. The improvements include installing storm
sewer inlets, new pipe and replacing pavement.
The Engineering Division prepared the plans and specifications for this project. The project
was advertised and bids were received and opened on February 25, 1997. The results of the bid
opening (a bid tabulation is attached) are as follows:
Compared to
Engineer's Est.
Bidder Bid Price Over(-Under)
Engineer's Estimate $ 10,516.00 ---
McQueen Landscaping Service,Inc. $ 7,384.00 (29.78)
Beniach Construction Co.,Inc. $ 10,424.00 ( 0.87)
Willoughby Ezcavating,Inc. $ 11,177.74 6.29
Burdick Plumbing&Heating Co.,Inc. $ 11,657.00 10.85
