Community Development Memo.No.96-199
December 9, 1996
, Page 2
resolution rovides for an in-kind donation b the Cit of Decatur of staff time fr m th D
p y y o e epartment
of Community Development.
The Decatur Park District will be res onsible for administerin the contract and for hirin a rivate
P g g P
planning consultant to assist in the planing process.
Planning for greenspace is also becoming more evident around the urbanized area, including a
completed Greenway Plan in the Village of Forsyth and the Sangamon River Greenway Corridor
Plan; completed, or near completed long range plans for the Macon County Conservation District
and the Decatur Park District; and the Village of Mt. Zion is preparing to develop a Greenway Plan
for that community. The Macon County Soil and Water Conservation District is also implementing
plans in the Lake Decatur watershed.
Integration of these plans is the most logical next step for the Decatur Urbanized Area and the
development of a long range greenway plan, such as the one proposed in this resolution allows the
individual agencies to put individual plans together for a community wide greenway plan.
Staff will be present to answer any questions the Council may have.
attach: 1
cc: Bill Clevenger, Decatur Park District
