City of Decatur Mobile Data SysEem Acceptance Test Plan �I <br /> COMMUNICATION LINK VERIFICATION ACCEPTANCE TEST <br /> This section details the communication link verification test procedure. It is intended to '� <br /> exercise the RF link from the modems located at the central computer site through base ' <br /> radios to a mobile data device and back again. <br /> Test Preparation ' <br /> The test equipment consists of one test host and one mobile data device. The test host will <br /> be provided by DATAxA��o and is an IBM compatible laptop computer with a <br /> communications port for connection to the link under test. The test host executes a special <br /> test software package written for the purpose of performing these tests. The mobile data <br /> device is equipped with software for sending text messages to and from the test host. The <br /> test mobile is situated close to the base radio site so that the quality of the RF communication <br /> to and from the base radio is such that no errors are introduced to radio channel <br /> propagation phenomena. <br /> Test Procedure Overview <br /> The test requires at least one person at the test host and one person operating the mobile <br /> data device installed in a City vehicle. These people must be in contact with each other to <br /> coordinate their activities. DAT.�xA�10 personnel will perform the test witnessed by the <br /> City's project manager. The test consists of 25 messages which aze directed first from the <br /> mobile data device to the test host,and then from the test host to the mobile data device. <br /> The test host counts the number of inessages successfully received from the mobile data <br /> device and tabulates the results. The operator in the vehicle will check off the number of <br /> messages sent in both directions to compare with the test host printout. <br /> DATARADIO's engineers will examine the results,and present them to the City. Any <br /> deficiencies that fall into the responsibilities of DATAxAD�o will be corrected.
