WEST END SURVEY PART II
Description of project
An intensive survey is planned for portions of the West End Neighborhood to identify and
document all historic resources in the neighborhood. This survey will identify individual
structures that are eligible for the National Register and deternune areas that qualify as National
Register Districts. Each Resource will have an inventory form(Illinois Urban Architectural and
H'istorical Survey) completed with a description, construcrion date, physical changes, historical
information as well as the National Register evaluation. A historic context of the survey area will
be developed explaining the important patterns in the development of the neighborhood with a
description of the various characteristics that give the area its identity. This portion of the survey
will substantially complete the survey of this large neighborhood(survey started in 1994).
The azea to be surveyed is defined by South Fairview Avenue, West Main Street, South Westlawn
Avenue and West Forest Avenue.
