Perry, Purchasing Supervisor� SUBJECT: VIBRATORY ROLLER BIDS Attached you will find bids for a vibratory roller to be used by the Street Division of the Public Works Department. This equipment will replace a 1983 Roscoe currently in use. The low bid submitted by Cummins, McGowan & West does not meet City of Decatur specifications in several areas. According to the Municipal Services Manager, it would take the City crew twice as long to roll a patch. In addition, he is concerned that a lighter unit would not be able to obtain satisfactory compaction on the work. The second low bid of Capitol Machinery meets the City of Decatur specifications. It is staff recommendation to accept Capitol Machinery's bid to furnish one (1) 1996 Caterpillar CB214C tandem drum vibratory roller for$25,719.
