CO DEVELOPMENT <br /> MEMORANDUM <br /> NO. 96-147 <br /> August 26, 1996 <br /> To: Honorable Mayor and City Council Members <br /> From: William B. Sands, Acting City Manager <br /> George C. Weaver, Director of Department of Community Development <br /> Robert S. Reed, Mass Transit Administrator <br /> Subject: Award of Contract for Van Operators <br /> On 7uly llth, 1996, the City received proposals for operators for the van progam <br /> which transports wheelchair bound persons in the community. Three proposals were <br /> received, but 2 of them were non-responsive and the 3rd was not acceptable because of the <br /> proposed fee. <br /> Consequently, the project was re-bid and 3 proposals were received on August 16, <br /> 1996. The proposed hourly fees for van operators were as follows: <br /> Olsten Staffing Services - - - - - - $10.50/hr. <br /> Manp ower - - - - - - - - - - - - $ 9.93/hr. <br /> Career Services Unlimited - - - - - $ 6.82 hr. <br /> After an evaluation of the proposals, it is the staffs recommendation that a 3-year <br /> contract be awarded to Career Services Unlimited. The City owns the vehicles and the transit <br /> system will schedule and dispatch the van, in addition to maintaining and housing them. The <br /> contractor will be responsible for providing drivers for the van program <br /> RSR/�j <br />
