Item Coversheet Page 1 of 1 � City Clerk DATE: 6/20/2016 MEMO: Council Memorandum#2016-12 TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council Members FROM: Tim Gleason,City Manager SUBJECT: Amendments to City Code Chapter 7 SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that City Council approve the attached ordinance regarding modifications to Chapter 7 of City Code. BACKGROUND: The Finance Department is in need of establishing the position of Water Customer Service Supervisor to be utilized on an as- needed basis during the transition to the new MLJNIS Utility Billing program over the next twelve months. No new employees will be hired for the position;higher class pay will be provided to the current Water Customer Service Representative assigned to the position,during those times when the position is needed. The Development Services Department is in need of a specialist to work on development and revitalization efforts for the Department and the City. This position would supplant the current Planning and Development Assistant position in the current budget. That position,which is currently vacant,would be eliminated with the establishment of the new position of Development and Revitalization Specialist. Both of these two positions are required to be included in Chapter 7 of City Code prior to being filled. This ordinance provides for these positions in the Code,as required. POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: There are no know objectors to these changes. INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: None.
