°f F9
_ c
V 70
:I:if
'/1LINOS
May 29, 1996
PUBLIC WORKS MEMORANDUM
NO. 96 - 30
MEMORANDLTM TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council
FROM: Daniel R. Sommerfeldt, Acting City Manager
Bruce A. McNabb, Director of Public Works
Matthew C. Newell, Traffic Engineer
SUBJECT: Intergovernmental Agreement for the Installation of Traffic Signals at
the Intersection of Mound and MacArthur Roads, City Project 9531
Attached is a copy of an intergovernmental agreement for the installation of traffic signals at
the intersection of Mound and MacArthur Roads, as discussed at the May 28th City Council
Study Session. This project has been approved and encouraged by the Decatur City Council,
Macon County Board, and Hickory Point Township. The Macon County Highway Department,
in cooperation with City staff, has prepared an intergovernmental agreement which allocates the
estimated costs and responsibilities of the project.
The County currently has jurisdiction of three out of four legs at the intersection, with the
City having jurisdiction over the fourth. The intergovernmental agreement sets the funding of the
construction costs along these lines, with the County covering 75% and the City covering 25%.
In addition, Hickory Point Township has agreed to contribute $10,000 toward the County's
portion of the estimated $80,000 cost.
This Agreement has been approved by the Macon County Board and Hickory Point
Township.
City staff will be present to answer any questions the Council may have.
attach.
