Bauer, Risk Manager <br /> SUBJECT: Blue Cross - Medicare Settlement <br /> Attached is resolution authorizing an agreement befinreen the City of Decatur and Blue <br /> Cross/Blue Shield of Illinois for participation in the negotiated settlement befinreen Blue Cross <br /> and the Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA) for the disposal of Medicare Secondary <br /> Payer (MSP) claims. According to Blue Cross, terms of the settlement provide that groups <br /> having insuring arrangements with it will not be obligated to pay MSP demand letters. In order <br /> to benefit from the terms of the settlement, subscriber groups are required to execute the <br /> attached agreement. Thus I forward it to you for your consideration, and request that you <br /> approve the attached resolution. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
