Perry,Purchasing Supervisor
SUBJECT: OUTDOOR EMERGENCY WARNING SIRENS
Attached you will find a bid summary for outdoor emergency warning sirens for the Traffic
Control Division of the Public Works Department.
These 20 sirens will replace 18 existing sirens in use as well as provide 2 additional sirens. The
new sirens will be more reliable and provide better coverage than the old. The new sirens are also
battery operated so they would be more dependable compared to electric during storms.
It is the staff recommendation to accept American Signal's bid to furnish five (5) 1996 Model
RM-130-DC outdoor emergency warning sirens for$41,365.00.
In addition, staff recommends purchasing five or more sirens as funds allow, after the new fiscal
year starts May 1, 1996. The cost of the sirens is $8273.00 each.
cc: Beth Couter •
.
