The correspondence is dated
December 9, 1994 through May 26, 1994 and covers the periods of schematic design through
contract documents.
The panels recommended for your project are not new but "refurbished". Refurbished panels
have been previously owned and then reconditioned to a new appearance. The advantage to '
purchasing refurbished panels is the substantial cost savings to the client but the disadvantages are 'i
limited vendors and stock available for immediate delivery. For the quantity of panels required
for your project, refurbished panels are a good option.
When the panels were initially bid, four vendors were located that sold reconditioned furniture.
This was determined after many phone calls. The four companies we faxed product lists to were
Associated Office Furnishings, Decatur; Remanufactured Business Furniture, St. Louis; Wiley
Office Equipment, Springfield; Great Lakes Interiors, Lisle. Of the four companies sent product
lists, only Remanufactured Business Furniture and Great Lakes Interiors were interested in pricing
the product. Associated Business Furniture and Wiley Office Equipment did not have the sources
available at that time to supply the product needed. The low bid of the two companies bidding
was Great Lakes Interiors.
As revisions occurred after the original bid date, pricing updates were received from Great Lakes
Interiors.
Please contact me if you have any more questions regarding this matter.
Sincerely,
,—_
V,` ,
Linda Clark
Interior Designer
Over 65 Years of Architecture
