Bacon, Jr., City Manager
George C. Weaver, Director of Department of Community Development
Robert S. Reed, Mass Transit Administrator
Subject: Application for IDOT Mass Transit Oprating Assistance for FY'96
Upon City Council approval, the attached resolution will authorize the filing of the City
of Decatur's annual Downstate Operating Assistance grant application. The application will
request funds from the Illinois Department of Transportation for the operation of the Decatur
Public Transit System in FY'96 (July 1, 1995 thru June 30, 1996).
Total eligible operating expenses are estimated at $2,200,000 and the State will fund
45%, or $990,000 of that amount. The federal share is projected at $450,000 and the remaining
$760,000 will come from passenger revenues and local contributions. State approval of the
grant application is expected in late August and the first reimbursement for FY'96 should be
received by November, 1995.
