BaC��, Jr., City Manager <br /> � <br /> RE: Sale of Fleet Vehicles and Purchase of Fire Vehicle <br /> Upon City Council approval, the attached resolution will authorize selling 15 fleet <br /> vehicles and purchasing an emergency response vehicle for the City's new Fire Chief. <br /> The 15 vehicles to be sold are 1988 and 1990 Ford Tempos and Dodge Shadows which <br /> have reached the end of their useful service life. All the vehicles were recently replaced. Sale <br /> of the old vehicles will be publicly advertised and handled by a sealed bid process. <br /> The Fire emergency response vehicle is a 1995 Chevrolet Caprice that will be purchased <br /> from stock at Miles Chevrolet in Decatur. The Caprice is equipped with the standard police <br /> cruiser package designed for emergency response demands. The City ordinarily purchases <br /> police cruiser type vehicles from the State of Illinois vehicle supply contract. Orders on the <br /> State contract were closed in March, however, and this mechanism cannot be used. The vehicle <br /> at Miles Chevrolet is an "extra" ordered by Miles and retained in stock for purchases such as this <br /> one by area agencies. <br /> Please let me know if you have any questions or I can provide any additional <br /> information. <br /> Attachment <br />
