C
, V 70

lLINO`'
Apri125, 1995
PUBLIC WORKS MEMORANDUM
NO. 95 - 13
MEMORANDL7M TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council
FROM: James C. Bacon, Jr., City Manager
Bruce A. McNabb, Director of Public Works v
Keith D. Alexander Lake Su erintendent
, P
SUBJECT: Illinois State Water Survey Agreement Ertension
The City's current contract with the Illinois State Water Survey (ISWS) for watershed water
monitoring will end on April 30, 1995. City staff requested a proposal from ISWS to continue
this monitoring work for an additional fifteen months. The additional work will maintain the
monitoring program while the City reviews the final report on the watershed study and decides
the scope of additional work.
This $34,991.00 extension continues Lake Decatur watershed nitrate monitoring, analysis
and nitrate reduction assistance from May 1, 1995, through July 31, 1996. The results will be
combined with the previous two-year nitrate investigation to improve nitrate management
accuracy and monitor current nitrate reduction strategies.
Funding for this additional work is included in the approved fiscal year 1995-96 Water Fund
budget.
A copy of the proposed agreement is attached.
Staff recommends approval of the attached resolution.
Attach. 2
