R � - !l RESOLUTION REQUESTING TEMPORARY CLOSING OF A PORTION OF NORTH FRANKLIN STREET - GUS MACKER- WHEREAS, Miles Chevrolet/Crown Olds and the Decatur YMCA are sponsoring a Gus Macker Tournament in the City of Decatur, which event constitutes a public purpose; and, WHEREAS, this Gus Macker Tournament will require the temporary closure of North Franklin Street, a State Highway in the City of Decatur, from East Cantrell Street to Eldorado Street; and, WHEREAS, Section 4-408 of the Illinois Highway Code, 605 ILCS 5/1-101 et seq., authorizes the State of Illinois Department of Transportation to issue permits to local authorities to temporarily close portions of State Highways for such public purposes. NOW, TI�REFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY TI-� COUNCII, OF TI-� CITY OF DECATUR, ILLINOIS: Section 1. That permission to close off North Franklin Street from East Cantrell Street to Eldorado Street, as above designated, be requested of the Department of Transportation. Section 2. That this closing shall occur during the approximate time period between 6:00 p.m. on Friday, June 2, through 6:00 a.m. on Monday, June 5, 1995. Section 3. That this closure is for the public purpose of a charity basketball tournament. Section 4. That traffic from the closed portion of highway sha11 be detoured over routes with an all weather surface that can accept that anticipated traffic, which will be maintained to the satisfaction of the Department and which is conspicuously mazked for the benefit of traffic diverted from the State Highway. Section 5. That the detour route shall be as follows: East Cantrell Street to Martin Luther King Jr. Drive to Eldorado Street. Section 6. That the City of Decatur assumes full responsibility for the direction, protection and regulation of the traffic during the time the detour is in effect. Section 7. That a11 debris shall be removed by the City of Decatur prior to reopening the State Highway.
