Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) <br /> Public Hearing <br /> Date: October 13, 1994, Thursday. <br /> Open Time : 7 : 30 p.m. <br /> Closing Time: 7 :55 p.m. <br /> Staff Present : Vickie Buckingham <br /> Purpose: To receive comments from the public about the <br /> appropriation of $737, 942 . 00 CDBG carry-over from <br /> fiscal year 92-93 . <br /> The suggestions for the funds are as follows : <br /> 1 . Preparation of Near North Redevelopment Area Plan <br /> The plan will identify strategies and develop financing <br /> plans for the following initiatives within the area: <br /> Housing Redevelopment, Neighborhood Commercial Development, <br /> Economic Development, Community Service Campus . The area is <br /> bounded by Water Street, Grand Avenue, ICG Railroad, and <br /> Norfolk and Southern Railroad. The plan will consider <br /> aesthetic improvements to the neighborhood including <br /> boulevard enhancements and utilize CPTED principles in the <br /> physical design recommendations . This development of this <br /> plan had previously been discussed with council in the <br /> context of the capital budget . <br /> Cost $80, 000 <br /> 2 . Sidewalk Construction <br /> The City Council has previously reviewed a sidewalk plan for <br /> the City of Decatur. The plan identified major segments to <br /> be completed as part of an integrated pedestrian network <br /> system. The proposed activity would complete the school <br /> based link identified in the plan on W. Grand Avenue, from <br /> Woodford to Jordan and the Jordan segment from Grand to <br /> 1 <br />
