� : II � � • AGREEMENT The CITY OF DECATUR, ILLINOIS, hereinafter referred to as the "CITY" and the COUNTY OF MACON, ILLINOIS, hereinafter referred to as the "COUNTY" hereby acknowledge the following: 1. That the CITY and the COUNTY have previously entered into two agreements concerning animal control within the CITY and the COUNTY known as the Animal Control Agreement, dated June 10, 1974, and the Animal Shelter Agreement, dated March 5, 1979; 2 . That the CITY and the COUNTY have previously agreed on February 28, 1992 that the responsibilities of the Animal Control Agreement and the Animal Shelter Agreement could best be met by having both agreements on the same renewal date with the same termination notice requirement and thereby agreed that said would continue in effect from year to year unless and until one party or the o�r�er gives nozice oi .its inzention and desire to ter- minate the same, not less than 120 days prior to March 16 of the year in which it is to be renewed; 4. That on November 2, 1993 the CITY formally notified the COUNTY of its desire to terminate the present agreement for operation of the Animal Shelter Agreement and Animal Control Agreement as provided in the Agreement dated February 28, 1992; 5. That due to such notification by the CITY the current Agreement for animal shelter operations and animal control func- tions will terminate March 16, 1994; 6. That the CITY and the COUNTY desire a new contract covering animal control functions and animal shelter operations within the CITY and the COUNTY and are negotiating such agreement but do not expect to reach an agreement by March 16, 1994. THEREFORE, the CITY and the COUNTY hereby agree to extend the terms, conditions, and obligations of the current Animal Con- trol Agreement and Animal Shelter Agreement past March 16, 1994 until April 30, 1994 . FURTHER, the CITY and the COUNTY agree to actively negotiate an agreement, and each acknowledges that should no agreement be reached by Anril 30, 1994 the current Animal Control Agreement and Animal Shelter Agreement will terminate.
