Perry, Purchasing Supervisor�� <br /> SUBJECT: TABLED VEHICLE BIDS <br /> The State of Illinois originally contracted with Cnevrolet <br /> for the purcnase of 53 variable fuel Luminas for their own <br /> use , and also for other governmental agencies . The City of <br /> Decatur purchased one of these Luminas in June of 1993 . The <br /> vehicle is being used by the Municipal Service Manager , who <br /> is keeping a record of the cars performance . To date , the <br /> car has performed well , and is getting between 18 - 22 miles <br /> per gailon. However , it should be noted that during the <br /> cold temperatures experienced in January, the car would not <br /> start for approximately four days . The car was checked, and <br /> +ne problem was found to be the fuel not working at <br /> extremely cold temperatures . <br /> The S�ate currently does not have any signed contracts for <br /> more variable fuel vehicles . The State ' s buyer said possibly <br /> more vehicles may be purchased in the fall of 1994 with a <br /> spring 1995 delivery, but nothing is definite . He also <br /> stated, if this were the case , the cost is not currently <br /> known. <br /> Since the State of Illinois is undecided about future <br /> purchases of variable fuel vehicles , and the City needs to <br /> replace the four ( 4 ) vehicles tabled previously, it is the <br /> staff recommendation to proceed with the low bid of Diamond <br /> Chevroiet to purchase four ( 4 ) 1994 Chevrolet Cavaliers for <br /> �35 , 951 . 04 . <br /> cc : Be�h Couter <br />
