GOAL VI - DEVELOP LARE DECATUR AND RIVER CORRIDOR FOR PUBLIC USE <br /> The objectives identified for this goal are intended to increase <br /> the public's access to and appreciation of Lake Decatur as a <br /> major community asset. <br /> Short-Term: On or Before 04/30/95 <br /> 1) Support construction of Bike/Hike trail from Lake thru <br /> Fairview Park to the Conservation District; <br /> 2) Determine feasibility of sediment by-pass project; <br /> 3) Research property acquisition/costs of preserving <br /> options for raising lake level; <br /> 4) Conduct study on Rea' s Bridge dam; <br /> 5) Identify options for institutional arrangements in <br /> watershed; <br /> 6) Develop a Greenway Plan for implementation within three <br /> years; <br /> 7) Complete Faries Park Basin Dredging Project; <br /> 8) Promote recreational use of the Lake; and, <br /> 9) Improve Lake Decatur watershed. <br /> Long-Term: (next 2 to 3 year period� <br /> 1) Implement Lake Decatur Study recommendations as <br /> appropriate; <br /> 2) Implement Sediment By-Pass program; and, <br /> 3) Acquire critical property needed to implement Greenway <br /> Plan. <br />
