. ' ; � � � <br /> 2. Construction Guidance - Furnish Guidance Services during the <br /> construction period generally comprised of the following: <br /> a. Consult with the CITY and with the Contractor on <br /> interpretation of plans and specifications and regarding <br /> any changes under consideration as construction <br /> proceeds. <br /> b. Provide periodical job-site inspection by the Project <br /> Engineer, or his representatives, during the construction <br /> period. - <br /> c. Safeguard the CITY against defects and deficiencies on <br /> the part of the contractor, but the ENGINEER does not <br /> guarantee the performance of the contract by the <br /> contractor. <br /> d. Check all shop and working drawings. <br /> e. Review and check all reports by testing laboratories on <br /> equipment and material tested. <br />, 3. Resident Inspection - Provide detailed Resident Inspection <br />' Services during construction of the proposed improvements, <br /> including but not limited to the following: <br /> a. Establish lines and grades and clirect the layout of all <br /> work on the ground as construction proceeds. <br /> b. Provide continuous inspection of the work for compliance <br /> with plans and specifications. Such inspection shall <br /> include those services which are customarily referred to <br /> as detailed resident inspection services provided that <br /> the ENGINEER shall not be responsible for the acts or <br /> omissions of any contractor(s) , any subcontractor(s) , or <br /> any of the contractor(s) or subcontractor(s) agents or <br /> employee or any other person (except his own employees <br /> and agents) at the project site or for the supervision, <br /> direction, control and work safety of any contractor(s) <br /> or for the construction means, methods, techniques, <br /> sequences, or procedures or for safety precautions or <br /> programs incidental to the work of contractor(s) or for <br /> any contractor' (s) failure to perform the construction <br /> work in accordance with contract documents. <br /> c. Keep a daily record or log of the contractor's activities <br /> throughout construction including notations on the nature <br /> and cost of any extra work. <br /> d. Supervise all inspectors, proportioning engineers, and <br /> other technical personnel assigned to the project. <br /> e. Prepare all payment estimates, change orders, records, <br /> and reports pertaining to the construction activities. <br />
