The Perry Peacock Pledge
J I promise to be a Perry Picker - Upper at
J my home, at my school, and around my
 town. I will not litter.
I am "Macon" a Difference. _
r . ,
Color me Clean. Do it for you.
Color me Proud. Do it for me.
Tell all your friends, It's just as easy
Tell them out loud... As easy can be.
DON'T LIT1'ER!"
. . I decided that I would clean up the park
By using my wings and my feet.
My name is Perry, and I live in a park I worked very hard picking up trash,
In a Macon County town. And at last everything was neat.
While walking about my home one day,
I stumbled and looked down. I wondered as I settled down for the night
People had visited the park that day If children littered at school;
And if they acted that way at home,
And had brought along some food. Perhaps there should be a new rule.
After eating and having some fun,
The had then been very rude! The rule might be that everyone tries
To keep their homes and schools clean,
The reason I stumbled and almost fell And also the parks in which they play.
Was due to some tin cans on the ground - Soon..litter would never be seen!
Even though containers for trash
Could by all, be easily found! The"spots" on my tail are often called "eyes".
Now...What if they all could see?
Later that day, I stepped in some gum Why, if everything was neat and nice,
That someone had thrown away. That would suit me to a"T"!
I also saw a brown apple core
And other litter- it ruined my Oh, wouldn't that be a wonderful thing?
day! And all of you could share
  In keeping our community clean
Sadly, so sadly, I Bv showin that Xou CARE!
 / flew to a branch
 Of an elm - my
. . And that we each should do our part.
 I looked from my y
With ou and with me, it will then be WE,
perch at the litter And that's a very good place to start.
 r--, below.
What a terrible sight Copyrights Reserved 1986
to see!
