. ,
 .
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
MEMORANDUM I
93-118 I'
June 22 , 1993
To: Honorable Mayor and City Council Members
From: James C. Bacon, Jr. , City Manager
George Weaver, Acting Director of Department of
Community Development
Robert S. Reed, Mass Transit Administrator
Subject: FTA Operating Assistance Grant Application for FY' 94
Upon City Council approval, the attached resolution will
authorize the filing of a grant application with the U.S.
Department of Transportation, Federal Transit Administration.
The City is requesting $630 ,000 in Section 9 operating assistance
for the Decatur Public Transit System in FY'94 (July 1 , 1993 thru
June 30 , 1994) . Total eligible operating expenses are estimated
at $2,150 ,000 with the State contributing $967 ,500 and passenger
fares and local revenue accounting for the remaining $552,500.
It appears that Congress may pass a transportation
appropriation bill by fall; thus, the City could obtain grant
approval in October. The first reimbursement, however, is not
expected before December, 1993 .
dmu
