COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT MEMORANDUM
NO. 93-70 .
May 10, 1993
TO: Honorable Mayor Erik C. Brechnitz and
City Council Members
FROM: James C. Bacon, Jr. , City Manager
George C. Weaver, Community Development Acting Directori
SUBJECT: Tabled Contract, Rehabilitation Work, Hecht Buildinq
At the last regular meeting of the City Council, questions were
raised regarding the bid tabulation for work to be performed at
the Hecht Building. The original bids were substantially in
excess of available funds and reductions in the scope of work
were made. These reductions resulted in deductions as shown on
the attached summary of deletions.
The confusion over the bid related to the addition of a back-flow
preventer. The low bid was $22,705 from Jerry Sapp Construction.
To that bid was added a back-flow preventer of $975 for a total
of $23,680. The cost of back-flow preventer was added to the bid
of D & O Incorporated at a cost of $977 for a total of
$24,227.69. Jerry Sapp Construction remained the low bidder.
From this total, the deductions were made.
Staff recommends approval of the contract with Jerry Sapp
Construction in the amount of $13,805.
